v8.04 and quality of D2009 support

I am curious concerning the status and quality of Delphi 2009 support in the latest maintenance release of TeeChart v8.04.

Compilation of a source code without warnings under Delphi 2009 doesn’t mean that conversion has been succeeded! Anybody interested in the subject may read http://dn.codegear.com/article/38693 and related papers.

Some quite serious problems were already mentioned in this forum (see post “TeeChart 8.04 GIF and PDF Exports”, 02 Nov 2008).

I can add that “Rich Text Drawing” doesn’t work in the Demo. There are suspicious and potentially dangerous uses of PChar pointers in some units, for example, TeeCanvas.pas, TeePNG.pas and some others, yet at the moment I have no time to check it carefully.

Anybody can see that the unit GIFImage.pas has a huge number of problems with Char and PChar type, nobody cared to check it before releasing v8.04!

Even testing of all demonstrations in Tee8New.exe was not performed, since some problems can be seen immediately from this Demo.

So, when can we expect a solid and reliable support of Delphi 2009??

Best regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,

I have fixed all warnings possible in TeeChat sources, not the ones in GIFImage.pas which is not under Steema Software's control.

I couldn't fix some W1058 because of what's described here:

Hi Narcis,

Does this mean that all these fixes are already available in the version 8.06 or should we wait for another release?

Thank you for your efforts!

Regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,

No, it will be in the next maintenance release.
